Introduction

In China, main reason why the One-Child Policy is negatively impacting on Chinese women is because the government forces families by coercing them but not by pursuing them to choose policy over poverty. People who live in the United States have their own rights of birth control, where as in countries like China, it is forced upon families through different techniques.

This concept tells that a pregnancy must be considered legal by the figures that enforce the One-Child Policy in order for a woman to give birth (Goodkind). Therefore, family planning authorities have the right to declare a woman’s pregnancy as legitimate or not, by any circumstance they deem appropriate.
Sterilizations play a huge portion in family planning and abusing women’s rights. The government forces birth control methods and reproductive cycles, public records of menstrual, and tampering with women rights (Goodkind). In the early years of the policy, surprisingly, women’s sterilization became common after 1979. Over 40 percent of women between 1980-1983 were sterilized, whether they were procreating or not.
