(Background Info) In the documentary Bullied, Jamie Nabozny is a young man who went to middle and high school between the 1990’s and the 2000’s, during those years he had been going through hell because of formidable bullies. (Attention Grabbing Strategy: anecdote) “No child deserves going through what Jamie Nabozny had to go through.”
But regardless if we acknowledge it or not cruelty is all around us. Either through wars going on in the Middle East or through the typical everyday murder in your city. Cruelty is not something we can escape and it boils down to one simple reason, selfishness. The reason all of these horrendous events occur is because we, the human nature, are selfish. Majority of every motive we have is pushed by our selfishness.
In the short story “Fear” by Gary Soto, and “The Case Study”. There are bullies that show to be caused by identity and choice. These bullies made choices that resulted in them being mean or rude in any way. “Fear” was about a kid named Frankie T. who had a broken home and no father, he was a bully at his school so he would hit kids and steal their lunches. “The Case Study” is about a group of popular kids (and then the whole school) who bully one person because of an opinion they had before.

Human can be a synonym to many positive characteristics. They are usually thought of as caring and compassionate. Those who can turn their back on someone who is suffering, and pretend they saw nothing is inhuman. Helping could stop future incidents and even save someone’s life.
In this and the last century our Human Rights issues, no matter the issue, all follow the same pattern. As these go throughout time, with racial and gender equality in the past showing similarities, and issues of today following suit. Also, the many genocides throughout time also follow a pattern, too. In the past, we had hot button issues of racial equality, gender equality, “underground” issues, and equality in general.

“It was a dreadful thing to see. Human beings can be awful cruel to one another” (Twain). In the satire, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, cruelty is used in many different forms to affect an individual and his/her morals. It is true that human beings are cruel, whether in a purposeful way or not. Mark Twain utilizes cruelty to suggest that an individual’s morality is influenced by society; a person’s morals will adapt to match sociocultural norms rather than remaining unique to each individual regardless of their surroundings.

The organization we chose is called DSC, and it stands for Dignity in Schools Campaign. DSC created certain rules to provide for school to use to help end student push-out, and protect people from discrimination. Push- out is a systemic factor that discourages young people because of racism. We chose DSC because what they have done really affect, influence, and help students.

Just because Curley doesn’t have a wonderful life or always looking for his wife or even just because he likes to tease people he shouldn’t use cruelty against others just for his satisfaction and it’s okay for him. As well as Carlson who really wants to kill Candy’s dog just because he’s old and smelly. Cruelty shouldn’t just be used because it feels right for them. How can people be simply cruel? A character who I think is simply cruel in general is Curley since he is always complaining about everything and always asking around for his wife who is simply always disappearing.
Bullying is a phenomenon existing as long as humans exist. The fact that it didn’t have a name for years doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a widespread way of behavior, in cases where two different types of people were involved ; the strong and the weak ones. Although bullying is considered as a form of aggression, or in some cases as an infringement of the human rights, “bullying is commonly regarded as an aspect of aggression”. (Roland and Idsoe, 2001), there are significant differences between them , the most important of which that “bullying is different from peer conflict. It is conflict between individuals that do not share equal physical and / or psychological power.
There is a significant difference between finding reasons and looking for excuses. The reasons why a child becomes a bully does not justify their misbehavior, but perhaps they will help us to understand it. On the part of the victim they do at their early age an insecure person, nervous, withdrawn, isolated, etc., many times the children no longer want to attend school for the same fear and in some extreme cases they arrive at the suicide. The damage lies primarily in their personal safety and low self-esteem to feel that their existence is worth little. To start off, this story takes place at burton elementary school I was in the 4th grade living my life like a normal boy would in the 4th grade.
