Seeing humanity in a different point of view digs deeper thoughts into oneself. In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the idea of humanity is stressed and expanded. Readers see the point of view of the creation throughout the book, ever since he was born. The creation learns about humanity through observations of people and villagers, especially the DeLaceys and the Frankensteins. He sees love from the Delaceys with Felix and Safie, later on requesting for a companion from Victor. He then finds how judgemental and hateful humanity can be when murdering William and stumbling upon Victor.Through the creations point of view, the reader can see that humans are judgmental, loving, yet can also be full of hatred. When the creation saves a girl from drowning, a blatant act of benevolence, he gets shot and wounded by a bullet and flees. Still in anguish, he finds William, a young boy of the Frankenstein family, and tries to communicate with William. Confronting the boy, he does not make a great first impression. Grabbing onto William, “He struggled violently. ‘Let me go,’ He cried; “monster! Ugly wretch! You wish to eat me and tear me to pieces. You are an ogre. Let me go or I will tell my papa”(144). The creation has William in his hands, panicing the boy. The creation has no kill intent, but William is scared and screams at the creation, calling it a monster. While spying on the DeLaceys, he sees loves love between Felix and Safie, an Arabian. Safie’s father, a merchant, caused a ruckus in Paris, leading him to his imprisonment. Felix sneaks in the prison to free her father because he was sentenced to death, and Felix did not want Safie to be sad for her father. Her father, grateful for Felix’s actions wants to reward Felix for his actions. But, “Felix rejected his offers with contempt, yet when he saw the lovely Safie… the youth could not help owning to his own mind that the captive possessed a treasure which would fully reward his toil and hazard”(123). The creation is talking within these lines. He is saying that Felix loves Safie since he wants her as a reward for saving her father. This way, the creation sees how close felix and safie are together. This love impacts the creation since it is very hideous but wants to find love. He does not want to be lonely which is a feature no one wants. This later on leads him into requesting a female companion when he meets Victor and tells him of his story. He says to Victor: “You must create a female for me with whom I can live in the interchange of those sympathies necessary for by being” (147).
