This article assesses whether humor fits in with the resiliency perspective as a way of coping. They found how the four main styles of humor, affiliative, self-enhancing, aggressive, and self-defeating humor are used and how the two positive forms of humor can be trained and utilized. And additionally, humors impact on resiliency where participants used humor to distance themselves from the stressor and give an alternative perspective for the situation which correlated positively to resiliency. 3. What was already known about this topic is that humor is a character strength that when active in a person can lead to greater psychological well-being. The results of this article are congruent with the knowledge that is out there and adds that that knowledge is important in regard to a resiliency framework. 10. They interpreted the results in an understandable way that listed how it all tied in together but also what could be done and what could have been done better. 11. It is suggested that future work and research could go outside of looking at humor as a positive and adaptive and look into how future models of resiliency can acknowledge maladaptive styles of humor as well. Because negative styles of humor can still be a form of coping and resiliency in theory. Additionally, looking into comparing the use of humor in resiliency to other character strengths used in resiliency. 12. I can see myself taking what this article found and using it to specifically look into how resiliency and humor tie into overcoming ACE’s or Adverse Childhood Experiences. There isn’t too much research out there like that, so I can see these findings helping
