In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury uses Clarisse’s connection to nature and Mildred's and her friends connection to technology to teach the reader the importance of being connected to nature and how technology is destructive and encourages emotional disengagement. Ray Bradbury uses the character Clarisse and her connection to nature to show that nature is very calming and can lead to happiness. Late one night when Montag was coming home from work, he turned the corner and almost ran into Clarisse. Montag and Clarisse began to talk to each other and then,” They walked in the warm-cool blowing night on the silvered pavement and there was the faintest breath of fresh apricots and strawberries in the air” (Bradbury 10).
“The Zookeeper’s Wife” by Diane Ackerman reveals the true story of Jan and Antonia Żabiński, two authentic zookeeper’s who risked their lives by being a part of an underground resistance towards Hitler. When all the animals were taken away from the zoo, Jan and Antonia used their free space to hide refugees until safe passage to a new home was discovered. Throughout the book Ackerman relates many experiences to freedom and confinement. Some people believe that animals should not be kept in zoos. Others believe that as long as animals feel like they are in their natural habitat that being in a zoo is acceptable.
The author of Feed, M.T. Anderson, does well when giving his readers a picture of the world that Titus and his friends live in. He mentions that the moon can be regularly visited on, how the characters live in portal homes, and how they all have a computer in their heads that is main into them, like a vital organ. Anderson also points that use of language. He does this by continuing to make Violet and her father use elaborate words, while Titus and everyone else doesn’t. This small feature shows us that language in forgotten and society doesn’t care much about it anymore.
How to Read Literature like a Professor Analysis This was a very informative book that pointed out a lot of aspects of literature I had never really paid attention to. It really showed me how important it is to find similarities between works of literature. It especially made me realize how while all three of my summer readings were drastically different, they shared common themes, plots and even sometimes character developments.

It gives an extreme exaggeration of a futuristic world where everyone is obsessed with technology. In the novel their entire lives revolve around their technology which is a satirical point of view of part of our own society, everyone being constantly glued to their phones. The entire purpose of feed is to attempt to make us see that what is happening in our world could get extremely out of hand at some point. The novel wants you to see that some of the things that sound so crazy in the book world are not too far from our reality.

Nature, however, is slowly being forgotten. In today 's time everyone is paranoid and stressed. Nature is the best listener you could ever find. Nature can talk to you, it just doesn 't have speak with words.
We should value nature and its animals much more (Becker, 1971). In today’s world we have what Becker calls a “power-saw mentality” (Becker, 1971, p. 114). Instead we’re greedy with what nature has to offer us. “Man takes what nature offers us, but usually only what he needs” (Becker, 1971, p. 114). There is a psychological difference in today’s world of what we enjoy out of nature (Becker, 1971).
It taught me that strength and perseverance can make a significant impact in life. I also learned that forgiveness and the ability to forgive is much more powerful than I ever realized. This novel sucked me into the story and its characters and took me on an emotional ride of highs and lows. Finally, it forced me to reevaluate my previous judgement of the homeless.
The required readings that I enjoyed during the past year were The Great Gatsby, The Taming of the Shrew and Frankenstein. These novels had lessons to express. In The Great Gatsby, I learned that people change and if you live in the past you 're in for a rude awakening. Taming a woman is foolish and you 're never tamed its compromise you succumb to in the Taming of the Shrew. In Frankenstein, your passion can drive you to accomplish a multitude of endeavors for ethical or unethical reasoning, yet it will come with consequences.
Nature is easily projected onto, as it allows for a sense of peacefulness and escapism. Due to its ability to evoke an emotional reaction from the masses, many writers have glorified it through various methods, including describing its endless beauty and utilizing it as a symbol for spirituality. Along with authors, artists also show great respect and admiration for nature through paintings of grandiose landscapes. These tributes disseminate a fixed interpretation of the natural world, one full of meaning and other worldly connections. In “Against Nature,” Joyce Carol Oates strips away this guise given to the environment and replaces it with a harsher reality.
