I Remember Darkness Poem

242 Words1 Pages
I remember darkness. Enveloping blackness, neither liquid nor gas. And I remember light, gossamer thin, yet strong. I remember they raged across the cosmos, battling for control over what was here now, and what would soon come to be. Light and shadow, shadow and light.

Where they came together on the infinite battlefield that was the universe, they would tear each other apart. Shredding and ripping, each fighting to protect what could be theirs. Small parts of themselves, mere wisps of their own glory, would drift among scenes of past battles. Inky streaks of shadow, featherlike shafts of light. Sometimes they would dissipate into nothing, sometimes they would reunite with the primordial force from which they came. Sometimes they collide.
