Behind Judy Brady “I Want a Wife” Publisher: Coker, Sharif May.22.2018 Judy Brady was born in San Francisco and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa in 1962. Brady's a feminist, a political and environmental activist—especially having to do with cancer-related issues, and a freelance writer. She wrote a writing called “I Want a Wife”. It is considered feminist satire and portrays the role of being a wife. Within the writing of “I want a wife” by Judy bridges, there's nothing but the stereotypical reputation of women particularly if they are wives. It is nothing but a depiction of what the norm of the role of being a wife should be. Judy Bridges starts mostly every line with the phrase “I want a wife…” followed with a stereotype and/ or bias depiction of the role of wives. In an article from the New York Times, it was researched that back when humans hunted men were the hunters and not forced but women typically stayed inside. So over time, it was implied that females would stay and take care of the house instead of going out and being the breadwinner. Nothing of the norms we set on women was forced only implied. furthermore, Judy Brady created a reputation that gave a humorous reputational meaning to the role placed on women. Why she wrote this shows how independent she will become if she had a wife of her own. She shows how shows that having a wife can be the best thing to have.
