I have not really given this much thought before this essay I guess that is probably not a good idea. Never the less now that I have no other choice I have looked at my options. After I reviewed all options from going to a major educational institution to technical schools to being a custodian I have decided I want to be an electrician. I have derived this conclusion from the taking the following facts into account, salary, benefits, education, travel, and cost of living. Education is very important to all jobs, but especially in a job that can claim your life in seconds. When dealing with electric you must be extremely cautious and have all the necessary certifications and license. I am currently NCCER certified and OSHA safety certified. I will be testing out for my apprentice and journeyman license this year. If I pass my two license test I would be capable of working on any electrical job site in West Virginia. I first set my goals in a warm climate because I am not a fan of the cold. The first place I looked at was Hawaii, after a short period of research I discovered that even though I would be making $70,000 a year, I would need to make $98,000 a year to maintain my standard of living. During this search I factored in salary, benefits, demand, and travel expenses. What I discovered was that in West Virginia I can make a very comfortable living.
