Introduction:
For my Credit for Life simulation I chose to be a physician assistant for my profession. I chose this because it had a high paying salary even after taxes, and being a physician assistant meant I spent less time in school than being a doctor meaning I was most likely in less student debt. According to US News and World Report, being a physician assistant was ranked as the third best overall job and the second best job in healthcare for 2022. This is because of median salary, long-term demand, stress levels, and work-life balance. I attended college to get my PhD which is $1,100 a month, but I applied for a grant and now don’t have to pay $770 a month. I also had to get my masters degree where I attended a public college and it was $736 a month. My debt is funded on my credit card that I will pay off over time. During my years of school I also interned at hospitals gaining hands-on clinical experience to become a physician assistant. In order to have both my PhD and my masters degree I would have to attend about 6 years of school. My grant covers about half of my student debt meaning I pay off the rest over time from saving up money from interning and working. According to the 2021 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average household food spending is $5,259 per year, or about $438 per month for American households. My cooking plan means I make my own meals like bringing my lunch to work and cooking at home for breakfast and dinner. This leaves no room to splurge and go out to dinner with friends or family, but I am still able to have fun home cooked meals with loved ones. This leaves time for me to find new fun recipes to cook at home while still shopping economically. Spending $250 a month on food and nutrition based on my income is financially rewarding and allows me to still have plenty of money left monthly for other expenses. I would shop at wegmans and stop and shop for my source of food and nutrition because both have a wide variety of foods that are included on the average menu in the credit for life game and nutritional and affordable meals and food
