Shadrach Ekeh English 12 Mr. Tatnall October 26, 2015 Iago’s Plans to Manipulates Characters One of the interesting characters in the disastrous play Othello by William Shakespeare Iago whose name is widely mentioned throughout the play, illustrates the physical appearance of an individual is not the true reflection or identity. From the beginning to the end, we see Iago constantly mesmerizing with the characters of Othello and easily prevailed. He is such a gifted young man when it comes to deceit and compromise, but still he is refer to as honest Iago which gave him the upper hand to manipulate Othello, Roderigo, and Cassio Every move that he makes ends up being successful since no one is smart enough to figure out what Iago does. …show more content…
Roderigo is immature and unexperienced. His love for money and lost for Desdemona gives Iago the upper hand to manipulate him sheepishly, does whatever Iago asked him to do. Iago sees the opportunity and toil with him. He persuades him to sell his property just for the love of Desdemona. Roderigo said; “I’ll sell all my land” (i, iii 425) Roderigo yields to his advice to sell his properties. Iago: “Thus do I ever make my fool my purse” at this point, he takes control of Roderigo properties. Iago’s incredible ability to frame stuff up and gets away with it is sums up his through reflection of who he really is. He is not only deceitful but also selfish. He uses Roderigo to get rid of Cassio. Even thou Roderigo abscond, Iago comes up with Desdemona’s love for him and then everything changes. “I have no great devotion to the deed, And yet he hath given me satisfying reasons. “Tis but a man gone. Forth, my sword! He dies” Now, he has successfully manipulated Roderigo and plans to kill Roderigo “I have rubbed this young quat almost to the sense, And he grows angry. May unfold me to him. It is more challenging for Iago to play around with. But still Iago finds a way to manipulates him using Cassio and Desdemona to reach his goals. Iago realizes how much Othello’s love Desdemona forces Cassio to get close to Desdemona and turns Othello to be Jealous. He succeeds in doing that, as Othello sees both of them he is convince that Desdemona has been unfaithful to him. Iago always uses the loop hole and careful examine them before penetrating.
