In The Legend of Sleepy Hollow the theme of imagination is vivid. Ichabod, the protagonist, is foolish because of his imagination. But he can’t be the one blamed for his imagination because the town as a whole has the same problem: “The whole neighborhood abounds with local tales, haunted tales, and twilight superstitions.”(4) Since the town has believed these superstitions for such a long time there is no surprise that Ichabod believes in these tales also. His imagination blinds him from reality and ends in his death. Ichabod wants to have Katrina as his own.
