However, many authors tend to forget that, for some people, home is a cause of abuse and neglect. Shire's central idea of the poem “Home” was about immigrants being forced to have no choice but to leave their homes. This is why many immigrants and refugees leave their country. On the other hand, Gilb's central idea around his short story is about a Latino family that is facing financial situations that is creating a sense of displacement for the family because they had to move to another home.
