For my IEP Stakeholder Interview paper, the two people I decided to interview are Mrs. Shaw and My Mother Wanda Hayward. Mrs. Shaw is a Teacher that works with students in the Pathway Educational program on Campus for students with disabilities. My Mother Wanda Hayward is a retired ESE support facilitator. She worked in the school district for fifteen years and as an ESE support Facilitator for three years. At the beginning of the interview, they both expressed that they were nervous. Of course, it was explained to them on both occasions to relax and that they were going to do a great job.
One of the questions that were asked during the interview was what would you consider the most difficult part of an IEP? Mrs. Shaw and Professor Stegall expressed both agreed that the most difficult part of an IEP is redoing IEP from another county. According to Mrs. Shaw, she had experienced the process of an IEP in a private school setting as well as public. Mrs.Shaw stated that in a private school the process of an IEP is basically built around that school district. The example she gave was how here in Polk County, you have to rely on them to come and covert the IEP into a plan that allows the parents to receive additional funding to help pay for that individual education. During my interview with Ms. Hayward she stated that she actually never worked in a private school setting. One thing that they both stated that I found very interesting is how a parent is welcomed to bring as many people as they want. Ms. Hayward also stressed the importance to always start a meeting off with blank IEP. Ms. Hayward stated that on many occasions she was frown upon for not wanted to create the IEP prior to sitting down with the parents
