It uncovers the scene of God’s perfect creation undergoing the temptation of the serpent and opening their eyes to the concept of “good and evil.” It also introduces the readers to the first acts of sin and the consequences subsequent to that. Adam and Eve did not intend to experience any pain or sorrow, but the sinful act was thus a repercussion. This scene sets up the many other stories in the rest of the Bible which explains other people falling under the temptation of the serpent, or devil, and the distress they suffer from.
