This quote is a great one for this book because this quote tell a tale mentally that hardships are only for a little while and while they happen, you just have to keep going and not give up. My theme for this book would be perseverance. Enrique Flores tells his life through the events of Julians tale showing tough times and places with little to no light. The inferno has become Julians life as he is stripped away from his parents and has to live in a place where freedom comes with a price. With the director blind to the things Caballo is doing, Julian and his friends start a revolution to overthrow him. Gordo en Caballo are getting at each throat fighting 24/7. Julian gets into some trouble with Caballo about his coloring book from Cuba. Caballo wants the book and Julian has to make a decision to either benefit his brothers or Caballo. With these set of chapter a new problem arises. To show Julian isn’t afraid of Caballo, he pulls a prank on him by loosening the screws on Caballo’s bad. Caballo, of course, gets mad and says that no one can go in the pool till the prankster( Julian) turns himself in. After this, Julian gets some money from Armando that is for gas to let his brother Aquilino and his girlfriend escape. In these last set of chapters, Julian is still with Tomas and they are on the boat still trying to make it to land. Making a message to Bebo to try to meet up, Julian has to secretly say it without making it to obvious. Bebo understands the message and meets up with Julian and Tomas to try to find his parents. Returning to their homeland, they find the same women that threatened to send Julian to the military. Finding himself in a pickle, Julian lies to the women about where the “treasure” is.
