Throughout the novel “The Great Gatsby”, F. Scott Fitzgerald tries to portray the “American Dream” through the green light and Gatsby’s Mansion. The Great Gatsby movie by Baz Luhrmann also tries to achieve this goal through the use of literary devices. Although there are several symbols in the book and movie that help interpret this dream, they differ drastically through the perception of the characters . Symbolism and imagery help illustrate the similarities and differences between both the film and novel.
