The Education of Immigrant Children

Introduction

Each year there are a numerous circumstances immigrant children face in order to get the proper education they need. Researchers have recognized the importance of children education and have found a three-pronged approach on how to handle this issue by removing barriers and provide funds to postsecondary schools that will lead children to be successful in the future, improve ECE participation rates among immigrant children, and having parental and family involvement to help their kids more to give them a better understanding in school.

Baum suggests that school should provide funds to children who are immigrants so that way they can get the education they need in the future. She says "The students most in need of support generally lack the information they need to access these funds." (4) meaning most immigrant students who grow up to go to college do not have the proper information to receive any grants or loans for school. Providing funds and removing barriers would be a great way for students to continue their academics. Karoly Lynn also agrees in her essay "Early Care and Education For Children in Immigrant Families" that some immigrants are eligible for any federal or state funds or loans but most of them get denied due to immigrant experienced (4). Jane Waldfogel says that the lack of English is so important in explaining the early literacy skills to children in school. Lynn suggest to improve the quality of ECE Programs and classroom teachers through workforce development systems (20). Improving the ECE Program will benefit many disadvantage immigrant children and parents. They would benefit to be eligible for loans and grants and that would no longer be a concern to the families.
