In Inside Out & Back Again, by Thannhha Lai, the theme Impact of war community is presented throughout Part I: Saigon. In the poem Titi Waves Good-bye the relationship between Ha and Her best friend titi is explored. “She waves from the back window of their rabbit-shaped car. Her tears mix with long strands of hair, long hair I wish I had. I would still be standing there crying and waving to nothing if Brother Khôi hadn't come to take my hand.” (Lai 8) This reveals that the war is starting to come closer and the rich people started to flee on cruise ships.Ha's friend is rich and able to flee from war while Ha's family is stuck in vietnam where the war is coming closer.This is significant because this shows how the war cause people to leave each other behind.This reveals how the war impacted the people of vietnam and the sacrifices they had to make to be safe from the …show more content…

"Brother Quang races home from class,throws down his bicycle exhausted,no longer able to afford gasoline for his moped."This reveals The war is causing vietnam not to have a lot of things because soldiers need them for flying planes.Brother Qaung and many people from Vietnam are just that they cannot afford to pay for gas to get where they need to be.This is reveals that the war is becoming worse and making the people of vietnam unable to ave mobile transportation to where they need or want to go.In the poem Quiet Decision the relationship between Ha and Her Mother is explored. "I am proud of my ability to save until I see tears in Mother’s deep eyes.You deserve to grow up where you don’t worry about saving half a bite of sweet potato."This reveals that Vietnam is losing food and necessities that people need to live during those hard times.People start to raise prices of things that there's less of and others need causing the economy to crash.In the poem Saigon is Gone the relationship between Ha and Her family is explored.
