With increasing globalization and proliferation of non-state actors, the state is entering a period of decline.

Globalization is defined as the interconnectedness and integration between populations, business organizations, and governments of diverse states around the world. Globalization affects aspects such as the environment, nations, economic and political developments, and societies. (The Levin Institute). Political globalization on a narrower end, defines the increasing inclination towards multilateralism and emergence of non-governmental state actors, which have direct influence over the state. Essentially, non-state actors have the power to challenge international political systems, in terms of the use of force sovereign states use. Violent non-state actors can lead to the weakening of states, resulting in fragile states that are impotent to maintain loyalty and needs of its population. This results in the population reverting to other states, which leads to international conflict. Due to the political and legal systems being incapable of offering various states with approaches to fight these violent non-state actors without disrupting system globally, states decline. Globalization has increased the capabilities of violent non-state actors by democratizing the motivation of pursuing in war. Violent non-state actors such as AlQaeda, challenge the state’s security and defense. After the occurrence of September 11, the state of the America has been in decline due to the constant threat. (Calame, Pierre). Moreover, another violent non-state actor is ISIS. Using illegal violence as means of reaching destructive goals, ISIS intimidates corporate organizations, corrupts politicians, and engages in actions that weaken the state’s sovereignty. ISIS as a non-state actor forms an enormous threat to various states all over the world, weakening their sovereignty and pushing them to a state of decline. Multinational corporations are global organizations that have facilities and assets in different countries, and a head office where the organizations organize global management. (Root). Multinational corporations gain power at the expense of state sovereignty, considering states without multinational corporations are usually less developed. Thus, states rely on multinational corporations to integrate their individual economies into the global economy for the state’s country to develop. Integration of economies results in goods and services being imported and exported in between different countries, sustaining development. The majority of states want to develop, and development will cause tax revenues to increase allowing various states to expand economically and politically. (Kapfer, Steve). Multinational corporations have a massive effect on the international system, as the state’s economic activity could either grow substantially or decline. Multinational corporations lead to the decline of states where, when these corporations are faced with unfavorable conditions, they could threaten to move the economic production and investments to other states. This forces the host state to construct fortunate investments for the multinational corporations to sustain the state’s prosperity.
