Food insecurity is a critical issue that affects many individuals and families in our community. The inability to access sufficient, nutritious food has detrimental effects on physical and mental well-being. However, by implementing community-based initiatives such as community gardens, food cooperatives, and partnerships with local farmers, we can effectively address food insecurity and promote access to healthy food options. Community gardens also serve as a valuable supplement to household food supplies, reducing reliance on expensive grocery stores (Guitart, Pickering, & Byrne, 2012). Furthermore, community gardens foster community engagement and social interaction.
