It is an absolute honor and privilege to be chosen for this prestigious position in our school. Throughout my school career, the only thing that teachers ever saw from me was my grades and school work, but now I have the chance to show what I do in my spare time outside of the classroom. My time is dedicated to helping the community of Windber by doing community service and being a leader to up-and-coming generations, which all contributes to the development and building of my character. Out of these three categories, however, the one that I focus on the most is my dedication to the community.

These have all shown the importance of responsibility when it comes to being in any position in a group or organization. If I do not carry my own weight in a group, then I am leading the whole group to failure. This quality has also shown me that I need to take responsibility for any and all of my actions and admit to what I have done, whether it be positive or negative, and to learn from my mistakes to better myself as a person. One thing that leadership positions have taught me is to be the best positive influence in someone’s life. Even if it is just getting a laugh out of someone, I am dedicated to being a good, positive influence to those around me because in today’s society, we are all too often bombarded with negativity. I just try to be the best possible person to my friends, family, and those around me; impacting just one of them is enough for me to keep going with this ambition. The last characteristic that I have taken on in the past four years is to be a goal-setter and getter. All too often, I would set a goal for myself that I would never reach. After experiencing that determination of reaching a set goal and the satisfaction that follows, I am to the point where I can reach for anything if I set my mind to it. These qualities have improved me greatly as a person and a friend to those all around
