Most students in high school are a part of an after school activity, and most of the time that after school activity is a sport. Sports are great for students, it teaches them teamwork, leaderships skills, communication, and many other actual useful skills for the real world. But there is a dangerous side to it as well, injuries. Often, the coach and athlete will shrug off an injury as if it was nothing just so that they can continue to play in the game. The most looked over injury, a collision to the head, is the concussion. And when this is over-looked, they're causing an even longer-term injury to the teen. That's why we shouldn't let teens go right back into the game, they need to be given time to recover and heal, however long it can take. …show more content…
But teens will try to get around this by saying, "it was just a ding" or "I didn't lose consciousness so it isn't a concussion". But even those can be considered mild concussions. Every one should be told that high school students are more susceptible to concussions when compared to older students. They will also, in most cases, require more time to recover. Although most people relieve the threat that concussions can cause, they should know that failure to properly manage a concussions can lead to long-term consequences, like a sharp drop in memory
