What is the place of liberal education in the contemporary global development needs? How does it harmonize with the education for the labor market? Introduction What is liberal education? Liberal education is what provides students with a broad knowledge of the wider world, it prepares them to deal with change and complexity as well as in depth study in a specific area of interest. With it we can develop a sense of social responsibility, intellectual and practical skills and the ability to apply these skills in real world settings. For example, at USIU, when a student majors in one specific area of interest, there are also other requirements that have to be met for a person to graduate, such as intercultural communication, philoposhy and so on, sych that when a student gets a job and is placed in areal world situation, they are able to handls the situation; dealing with diverse clients or handling tough clients, developing another view of how other people may be seeing things and also gain a wider understanding of the other fields in life. In todays world, it is very clear to see how the demand for multiple disciplines and ways of adapting to 21st century needs, as there is a need for intellectual and personal development, as opposed to professional skills, as jobs are usually more demanding that just having the knowledge of your preffered profession. The idea of liberal education has been with us for almost 20 years and even thougheducational ideals have sustained more
