If you want to know more about a city or a country or a region then going through local dialects is the best option. Local dialects are full of information; in fact they contain step wise development of region too. The impact of change in local dialect can be seen or rather is seen with developments in society. The process though is very slow yet it is a constant process. Kumaoni language too is not an exception. Present Kumaoni language has its own importance. Its unique vocabulary gives it a different look. Kumaoni is spoken by 2360000 (1998) people of Indian States of Uttrakhand (Almora, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Champawat, Rudrapur districts),Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra and Punjab, besides being spoken in some regions of Himachal Pradesh. The Central Pahari language includes Kumaoni and Garhwali. The paper will deal with the development of Kumaoni.
