I firmly believe that such memorials are extremely valuable to veterans. It has been said of veterans that they seldom talk about their military experiences; however, in my thinking, that is not an accurate appraisal. We think about those times; nonetheless, it’s difficult to find, even among loved ones, those with whom one feels at ease to share those memories and feelings. YET, standing in the solitude of these memorials, a soldier’s thoughts flow freely as he/she reminisces
Patriotism is the dedication; loyalty; devotion; respect; faithful etc. Being a patriot means do whatever it takes to honor your country. In the essay, Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty, Mike Christian was a POW, captured by the Vietnam. As stated in the text, he sewed an American flag so him and the other POW’s that were captured could say the pledge of allegiance. He knew he’d get in lots of trouble if he would get caught.
Thank you Veterans Veterans do a lot for us by defending our country and our home. We thank them by having a full day dedicated to our veterans. Reagan’s aspiration in his address is to convey the standard that Veterans deserve. Through the speech, Reagan embraces a solemn tone to reveal that though he holds a high position his nobility is to be put aside to amplify the sacrifices the Veterans have made for the country and its population. I myself have to think sometimes about what other people might be going through, even though we have freedom over here, there are many wars happening and many people losing their lives.
