TLC was used to identify the actual unknown product as well as other products/reactants present in the filtered solution. The procedure was conducted by placing a TLC plate in a developing chamber that is filled with a small amount of solvent. The solvent cannot be too polar because it will cause spotted compounds on the TLC plate to rise up too fast, while a very non-polar solvent will not allow the spots to move. The polarity of the spots also determines how far it moves on the plate; non-polar spots are higher than polar ones. After spots on the TLC form, the Rf values are calculated and used to analyze the similarity of the compounds.
Identification of an Unknown Compound using Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis Lauren Tremaglio Chemistry 1011 Lab, Section 16 Instructor: Steven Belina October 3, 2014 Our signatures indicate that this document represents the work completed by our group this semester. Experimental Design and Discussion of Results The objective of this experiment was to identify an unknown compound through quantitative and qualitative analysis. In order to find the identity of the unknown compound, an initial qualitative test for solubility was performed.
Pharmacologists and biotechnologists fusing genomics are presently spinning more towards a customized medicine to encourage the endorsement of new medications and in addition to propel the medication improvement process. "Pharmacogenomics inspects the acquired varieties in qualities that manage drug reaction and investigates the ways these varieties can be utilized to foresee whether a patient will have a decent reaction to a medication, a terrible reaction to a medication or no reaction by any
The mobile phase used was a mixture of ammonium acetate buffer and acetonitrile at a ratio of 400:600. A flow rate of 1 mL/min was maintained, and the detection wavelength was 292 nm (22). The required studies were carried out to estimate the precision and accuracy of the HPLC method and were found to be within limits [percent coefficient of variation was less than 15%]. Sample preparation briefly involved 0.4 μ membrane filter through which the sample was filtered, diluted with mobile phase, and 10 μL was spiked into
After the reaction is finished, the percentage composition of each element in the product can be found and used to calculate the empirical formula, which is the lowest whole number ratio
Pharmacology Assignment Week 4 Marty Smith is a 67-year-old male who has called 911 after experiencing chest pain and dizziness. The paramedics arrive and notice a bottle of nitroglycerin on the table. The patient states he has angina and is to take the medication as needed for chest pain. He took one pill an hour ago and a second pill 10 minutes prior to calling 911.
Nowadays it seems like legal drugs are more expensive than illegal ones. This dilemma occurs because the pharmaceutical industry affects the economy significantly. Although the United States is a mixed market economy, there are instances where the economy seems like a free market economy. A free market economy allows companies to determine the prices of goods free from government intervention. The pharmaceutical industry, despite several regulations set by the food and drug administration, is a free market economy.
Reflection on Medication Administration Description (Competency 3j) I have looked over my moral development regarding medicine administration and have noticed there is the need for improved and has been agreed with my mentor to write a piece of reflection to identify areas of concern Feelings One of the major concern is the pace of dispensing and the time spent used to open charts and allocate them is one of my weakness. Although I am learner I need to back up the pace of dispensing so that patient doesn 't feel my skills is dull or boring and waste of time. I Had developed that feeling of being extra careful to avoid drug error and that makes me feel slightly nervous more also being under the influence of supervision as well. Evaluation
The first concept is drug, which can be defined as the “pharmacologic action of the substance itself” (Zinberg 2). In other words, we have to examine the pharmacological effects of the drug on the individual. However, is also important that one considers the form of the drug, route of administration and the dosage when examining a substance. For example, a substance may come in powder or liquid form and could be administrated in a variety of ways, including oral administration, injection, or inhalation. One also has to consider the dose of the drug, or the amount that is necessary for the user to feel its effects.
Janssen Pharmaceutica Janssen is one of the world’s leading research based pharmaceutical organisations and is part of the Johnson and Jonson family of companies. J&J is a diverse group of healthcare specialists. Johnson and Johnson was founded in 1886 and is an American pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer packages goods manufacture. Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, is dedicated to research and development of new drugs against the most important unmet medical needs of this generation, including oncology, infectious disease, neuroscience, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and immunology.
INTRODUCTION A gas chromatograph (GC) can be utilized to analyze the contents of a sample quantitatively or in certain circumstances also qualitatively. In the case of preparative chromatography, a pure compound can be extracted from a mixture. The principle of gas chromatography can be explained as following: A micro syringe is used to inject a known volume of vaporous or liquid analyte into the head or entrance of a column whereby a stream of an inert gas acts a carrier (mobile phase). The column acts as a separator of individual or chemically similar components.
In Nursing, Mathematics relates to the Drug Computation that plays a vital role in nursing practice where Nurses are accountable when preparing or giving medication practices and when a medication error occur patient safety is at risk. My relationship with Mathematics on Drug Computation precipitates me with a variety of emotions like anxiety. It is clearly an activity for me to work on, spend some graceful time in understanding and analyzing the correct formula in computing drug administration. I am fully aware and admit that I still have some lapses and difficulties regarding drug computation.
Pharmacognosy is the study of drugs derived from plants and animals. Pharmacology is the study of the effect of drugs on the human body. All three courses are the basis of pharmacy, and that’s why it is necessary to take them all. The other courses may include Oncology, immunizations, organic chemistry, and principles of pharmacology and medicinal chemistry. The last few courses I listed all depend on what program and college you decide to take part
Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is the clinical practice of measuring specific drugs at timed intervals in order to maintain a relatively constant concentration in a patient's bloodstream, thereby optimizing individual dosage regimens. It is not necessary to use therapeutic drug monitoring for all the of medications, and it is used mainly for monitoring drugs with some narrow therapeutic ranges, drugs with marked variability in pharmacokinetic, medications with target concentrations which are difficult to monitor, and drugs that are known to cause therapeutic and adverse effects. The process of therapeutic drug monitoring is based on the assumption that there is a specific relationship between dose and plasma or blood drug concentration, and between concentration and therapeutic effects. Therapeutic drug
The internal standard method allows a very accurate analysis to be performed, since the behaviour of the species of interest is compared to that of a known substance which is present in a specified amount. It is usual to include an identical volume or mass of the internal standard into each prepared standard. This facilitates easier calculations of the composition of the
