If you are an avid fisher, the town of Pompano Beach hosts several beachfront competitions throughout the year.
Annual Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo
This competition began in 1965. The Chamber of Commerce started it in an effort to keep winter tourists in the area longer. It has become a major event that benefits the area’s saltwater conservation programs and marine education projects.
Annual Ladies’ Fish-Off
This competition is one of the largest fishing tournaments in South Florida. It is possibly the largest ladies-only fishing tournament in the world.
Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit
This tournament is the largest one in South Florida and grows in popularity every year. It is sponsored by Bluewater Movements.
Boating
Pompano Beach is a wonderful place to launch a boat. All watercraft can be launched at NE 14th Street Causeway on the Intracoastal. These waters are excellent for catamarans, sailboards, kayaks, sailboats, as well as other watercraft. Vacationers and locals who bring boats can dock them at the local marina.
