Respect means more than power. A person can have power and not respect. Respect is earned and power is given by the people of the higher class. If a person has respect they have people who support them. If someone has power for example a president, they are unknown and would have to earn it. They could have people who go against them and what they are for. Macbeth has power that is illegitimate. The witches go to Macbeth to tell him he’s going to take power as king. In The tragedy of Macbeth the Third Witch says,”All hail, MacBeth, thou shalt be king hereafter! Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none. So all hail, MacBeth and Banquo”(William Shakespeare PG:3). The significance of this is Macbeth didn’t become king naturally or by earning it. He received prophecies and killed the king to take his place.MacBeth says, “I have done the deed”(William Shakespeare PG:340).
