A spiritual practice or spiritual discipline moves a person along a path towards a goal, The goal is variously referred to as salvation liberation or union with God.
Spirituality exists in all traditions and cultures.

One chief idea of my life . . . is the idea of taking things with gratitude and not taking things or people for granted. For me, I believe that fully experiencing and appreciating the moment with gratitude and awareness-

The practice of fasting evokes asceticism, self denial, and fear of the body and its pleasures. Today, we know that occasional fasting cleanses the body and can be very helpful physically even though most include drinking water. Fasting also has transformative spiritual potential, if we approach the practice from functional, rather than mythic, terms. No fast should ever be undertaken without adequate hydration.
