When I was younger, my mother was always working and was really busy so she never had the time to help me with anything school related. At the time, when she was working we lived with my grandma, my grandma wanted me to be the smartest I could be and not struggle with my reading or writing. So my grandma took it upon herself to help and teach me how to read and write. Although I still have a hard time in reading and I don’t like it as much as writing, what she did for me when I was younger had a positive impact on my writing and reading skills as I am getting older. My grandma helped my reading skills a lot. Reading books out loud to me and telling me stories about her youth. She would also share by the poems and music that she wrote. Another lesson that she did to help me in improving my reading was she would make me read to her. She would let me choose any book I wanted as long as I out loud read to her to show her I was improving. I usually gravitated towards the Disney books she bought me and read them out loud to her. My grandma said that I’ve always had the most difficulty with reading, I get bored very quickly so growing up with that was always a struggle for me when it came to reading.
