During a life-changing moment, when one has self restraint and thoughtful consideration, it gives the opportunity to avoid detrimental consequences. In William Shakespere's play Romeo and Juliet, as a result of the young lovers' passionate and uncontrollable emotions, they make rash decisions with no thought and unfortunate conclusions. Romeo, absent of love, makes decisions based purely on emotion. Juliet also makes impulsive decisions because of her emotions; however, she has these emotions because she is always caught in the middle between her duties and what her heart wants. Romeo is very emotionally unsteady and needy which causes him to act impulsively and prematurely. Romeo was not shown love in past experiences, which drives his need …show more content…

Juliet is constantly being pulled in different directions between her familial loyalties and her heart. Juliet is talking to the Nurse after being delivered the news of Tybalt's death, "O serpent heart hid with a flow'ring face!/ Did ever dragon keep so fair a cave?/ Beautiful tyrant, fiend angelical!" Unlike Romeo, Juliet's feelings of uncertainty stem from the lack of balance between her family and her love for Romeo. Juliet's love for Romeo gets in the way of her familial duties which causes her to feel emotions of conflict. Everyone she holds dearly is telling her that Romeo is to blame so she feels a responsibility to Tybalt as her cousin, but Romeo is always lurking in the back of her mind which makes it hard for her to make decisions at times. Juliet is overwhelmed when she awakes from her sleep, as she expects to see Romeo there waiting for her, and instead she finds him dead. She is talking to herself after the friar leaves her alone with Romeo's body, "Yea, noise? Then I'll be brief. O, happy dagger,/ This is thy sheath. They rust, and let me die." It seems her whole world is crumbling down when she finds him, and with each decision after the other causing more people to pay the price. Her extreme emotions forced her to do this, because in her mind there was no other option. So this reckless decision ended her
