Women have always had problems with how they have been treated in the world. They were never treated fairly or equally. These things have effects on women and they aren’t really good outcomes on how women feel about it. In Julia Alvarez’s book “ In the time of the butterflies” it shows gender roles, how women are treated in the Dominican Republic. Trujillo the dictator of dominican republic never gave women rights, and just overall hated the thought of women being like men.
