Overview

Hospitality sector is all about serving the guests to provide them "feel-good-effect" and since historical times "Athithi devo bhava" (Guest is God) has been one of central tenets of Indian culture. In India, the guest is treated with warmth and respect and is provided the best services by the people. From the age of the bullock cart and horses through the age of the rail road into the era of the jumbo jet and supersonic aircraft, the hotel industry developed with the simultaneous development of transportation systems. It also reflects the standard of living and the lifestyle of the society in which it operates

Today hospitality sector in India is one of the key industries driving the growth of the service sector in Indian economy. It is expected to grow at the rate of 8% between 2007 and 2016. India ranks 18th in business travel and will be among the top 5 in this decade. India has been the most attractive destination for global hospitality industry players. Many international hotels including Sheraton, Hyatt, Radisson, Meridian, Four Seasons Regent, and Marriott International are already established in the Indian markets and are still expanding. There are some national players also providing hospitality services to guests including TAJ, The Oberoi Group, The Leela Group etc.
