It's truly disheartening to acknowledge that in 1860, Native Americans were subjected to unfair social and political rights. The root cause of this inequality was the government's decision to forcibly remove them from their homes in 1830 and relocate them to Oklahoma via the Trail of Tears. Additionally, they were given deceitful treaties that would eventually result in their further displacement. All these factors played a significant role in the unequal treatment that Native Americans faced in society and politics. It's unfortunate to learn that Native Americans were denied political rights by 1860 due to the Trail of Tears, which was a significant reason why they did not enjoy the same rights as white men in America. Evidence from the Majority Opinion in Cherokee Nation v. Georgia, 1831, by the Supreme Court of the United States, shows that Indians were stripped of their rights to encourage them to move west so that Americans could take over their land. This evidence proves that Native Americans were mistreated and manipulated so that Americans could take their home to make it their own. It's worth noting that this source was created to discuss the Indian Removal Act, and the author's background or point of view is that Andrew Jackson wanted the Indian Removal Act. However, this source is reliable because it was written by the president at the time. Based on the Cherokee Nation of Indians' letter to Congress, it is evident that they firmly protested against a false treaty that they were tricked into. The statement, "We solemnly and earnestly protest against that false treaty," supports the author's argument that the Cherokee Nation was deceived and forced to move even further west.
