Individualism In Plato's The Allegory Of The Cave

299 Words2 Pages
Action creates individualism. Throughout our live we have been told what to do. Some have

taken the path less traveled and achieved great success, or have had miserable outcomes. In “The

Allegory of the Cave” by Plato, a world is created analogous to society. In this he proves that painful

understanding is better than blissful ignorance.

Never questioning power and being submissive leads to wasted life. Thought it is wrong for

society or the government to control the people, it is the people’s obligation to rise up against injustice

as said in the” Social Contract” by Rousseau. Unfortunately in Plato’s Cave the prisoners “have been

here from their childhood.” For their whole lives they stay ignorant and are unaware of the outside

world.
