The theme for week 5 was the rise of opposing groups during the Industrial Revolution, chaos beyond Britain and a great hunger in Ireland. With the Industrial Revolution progress affecting the lives of primarily children, family groups like the Socialist and Marxist emerged. Also, emerging during the Industrial Revolution in Britain was chaos across the ocean like in France, Belgium, Poland, and Ireland. This was due to a new reign, shifting identity, and resentment. Resentment was one of many characteristic in many countries, for some were new or in the progress to become independent. Ireland was one of the European Countries that will harbor resentment because they felt that Britain was to blame for the potato famine.

The Communist Manifesto in 1848 helped establish that they are concerned with the struggle between social classes not changing the system within. They want to eliminate private property, so everyone can own property, but Socialist are focused on other ideals. They aren’t as radical as the Marxist, instead Socialism focuses on giving ownership in the hands of the community. Then there is communist, who wants control of property, business, and government to be in the hands of the totalitarian. The British did not put much reform or effort due to their laissez-faire attitude, belief of act the of Providence, and prejudice. With that attitude in place during the famine, the Irish people had a reaction of their own. They pleaded for help though politics, migrated to The Americas, and changed their perception of England. This perception began to unfold because of the decrease of population, decrease of birth rates, and marriages.
