Industry V Inferiority was the fourth stage developed by Erikson. This stage takes place during the ages of 5-12 years. The main focus of this stage is about the infant learning to read and write and developing their skills and abilities (when they are rewarded and praised). If the child is encouraged by their parents to develop these skills and abilities then they feel confident to meet their developmental milestone and they would develop independence which would help them in hard situations later on in life when they need to make important decisions. However, if the child does not have the ability to develop these skills then they may develop a low self-esteem by feeling useless and they may struggle to operate with others or work in teams. This stage is about forming close relationships with other people. Completing this stage successfully could form long lasting, happy relationships and could result in feeling a sense of safety. However, if intimate relationships are not formed then it could lead to feeling a sense of isolation and loneliness. Generativity V stagnation is about getting used to the relationship that has been formed, developing your own family after getting married and undertaking responsibilities after getting married such as raising your children and going to work to earn money in order to provide for their family. Ego Integrity V despair takes place between the ages of 40- 65+ years. This stage is about the way how individuals at the age of 65+ decrease their levels of productivity and retire jobs. During this time, the individuals are able to integrate if they can continue to live a successful life.
