Crispin Essay In the book we read, Crispin The Cross Of Lead, inequality was very implied. There were different social classes, people of higher nobility were treated with more respect, and people that were poor were treated almost as slaves. Luckily, today people are more equally treated and freedom has been a major factor of this. We have many ways that we are free, but we also have inequality to this day, which is a large problem in society. Not all of today’s current inequalities can be completely solved, but things can certainly be done about them. Today, majority of people are able to live their lives freely and make their own decisions, unlike people during the time period of Crispin. Things can be done about these issues that are causing inequality, but most of the things are unfair. For example, the government could tax the rich and not the poor to level out the classes, but that is not very reasonable. There is really no possible solution to assumption and stereotyping however. These things can never be changed and people will forever make these conclusions about others. One thing that can be solved, is the inequality in education. Education is very expensive and by reducing the price, more people can become smarter and get better paying jobs, and “It may seem intuitive that more educated people earn more, yet the extent to which this is true is striking.”(Looney, Adam “Education Is the Key to Better Jobs.”) Some countries don’t even have these freedoms like being able believe in a religion of choice or even being able to drive. Today, we are very lucky to have the freedoms that we have. Although we have all these freedoms, we still have inequality. Some people view inequality as a good thing and believe the different classes we have today are for the better. But inequality is typically seen as a bad thing around the world and there are many ways that we could fix some of the issues, but inequality will most likely be a problem
