But that doesn’t mean a person will automatically be considered an equal or be respected. People tend to judge first and then get to know you. Like in the story “ Still Separate , Still Unequal “ by Jonathan Kozol. Kozol stated how when he had a conversation with a few high school students they told him they wanted to take AP classes but instead they were forced to only take classes needed for graduation. The students were only able to do cosmetology and sewing.
“When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must-at the moment- become the center of the universe,” this was Elie Wiesel’s, nobel prize winner, quote. People have different points of views on other people, to be more specific on people on other races and religion. Some individuals have the mentality that there’s always a superior race. My opinion is that there is equality among every person in the world.
Reasons why some of these disparities exist is because of the lack of acceptance, and mental illness stigma can allow for health disparities to exist within our population. Mood disorders still exist for a variety of reasons like biologically, environments and social influences. Disparities exists with some of these disorders like anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc. because there is still a stigma associated with having one or more of these disorders. People with any form of a mood disorder may not seek help because the book mentions that they often have “feelings of shame guilt, loss of self-esteem, and a sense of isolation and hopelessness”.
You can see how the inequality played out in the book I've Been Bunked and I've Been Scorned when it says “African Americans were inferior to white people, and any attempt to topple this natural racial order undermined white political power, removed whites from their proper place, and gave African Americans false hope about their potential and ability to be free and equal to whites.” which puts into perspective how things were in the United States. You could also look at it as the inequalities between those in power, and those who were not. The Cold War had an abundance of issues with the division of power, and wars were even fought over
Many solutions, such as social investment, early childhood education, job training for young adults are avenues for addressing the shrinking middle class. Many of these ideas have been around since the 1990s, and most know that they will work, however, no one wants to pay the cost of such social investments. Thus, this is a fine example of how one topic, income inequality, can be addressed from two different angles, that of economist and that of sociologists, and what contributes to the inequality can be supported based on what is actually measured. In this specific comparison, due to the differences in disciplines addressing the same issue, the variables measured are completely different and as a result, yield very different results.
What makes people unequal to others in their mind? Many think others are unequal because they are simply different from them. The possibilities on being different from another person are almost infinite, but most often, and not limited to, are race, religion, gender, sexuality, or just being an outcast. Looking at just the United States, it is a huge melting pot based on immigration throughout history. Being an immense melting pot is a blessing and a curse; while it creates cultural diversity, it also creates discrimination, which America is notoriously known for.
Racial inequality hasn’t disappeared throughout the history of America; however, racial inequality has decreased ever since the ‘Jim Crow’ laws. Although, there is people in today’s society where they consider themselves ‘racist’ and want only one race to rule society. Another issue of racial inequality is the wage gap between races hasn’t had a big change within the years. Back around the 1870’s when slavery was ended and black people were freed is when racial inequality was shown with the Jim Crow laws. Black people and white people were segregated and weren’t allowed to interact with each other.
Issues with racism has always been an enormous problem for Americans, ever since the beginning of the Atlantic Slave Trade in the 1400s. Racism towards African-American slaves was the cause of the United States Civil War. Even after the civil war ended, a century later there were still issues with racism. In the early 1900s, the school systems had major complications with people of different color than white. There were schools created only for the attendance of African Americans as they were schools that only allowed white children.
To this day people still continue to be treated different because of their race and it isn't fair, they are treated as a minority as if the other race were superior over
Everyone should be treated equally right? Well it has not always been like that. The Holocaust is an example of inequality, the Nazis killed the Jews because they were not as ethnicaly “supperior”. All races and ethnicities should be treated equally and shown the same respect as anyone else. No matter if their different or exactly the same.
Discrimination is a big problem, and people get treated differently because of their race, religion, ethnicity and much
The history of African Americans is marked by centuries of struggle and oppression. From slavery to segregation and discrimination, African Americans have faced significant obstacles in their quest for equal rights and opportunities. In this essay, we will examine the historical roots of the significant problems of African Americans, citing evidence from multiple online sources and historical evidence. One of the most significant problems facing African Americans is racism.
Racial inequality has been such a huge problem that even eight important people tried to stop it. Afortunately some people didn't care and keep on doing it now. That's why people like Obama, Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, etc. ,have been making part of their quotes about racial, because they want to try and stop
In history, African Americans have experienced countless amounts of discrimination, segregation, and inequality. Many leaders and activists who have made significant progress for African Americans in society. During the 1940's-1960's African Americans leaders formed powerful movements and peaceful protests that brought worldwide attention to the racial inequality African Americans faced. African Americans will face injustice issues joining War World I and World War II after the war were over they still faced discrimination in the United States. Strong activists after World War II forcing the rights of African Americans to have equality started progressing.
In keeping point of views like this alive in society, we are making those races that are seen as second rate, have no possibility of amplify their status. Realizing that there are no natural elements improving one race than another. Race, which prompts injustice, is basically something that is in use to establish brutalities, merciless and unforgivable treatment of persons all around the globe. Racism should be congested.
