Even before we were able to talk, we could move. We were able to respond through our bodies for everything. It is a fundamental belief that our body, mind and spirit are connected; parents instinctively, especially mothers, have been able to calm their tiny tots by expressing love, singing lullabies, and swinging the cradle or just rocking the child. Infants/toddlers are known to recognize the melody. Developing on these natural instincts, music and movement could be helpful in building the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical integration of toddlers. Physical Integration: Along with the mother, while moving on the music, toddlers learn balancing, co-ordination and flexibility, by controlling their body. They use their hands and legs for reproducing rhythms by tapping or clapping. The toddler also gets his personal space, which is important in building a sense of self. His sensory motor receptors, motor responses, body actions and personal space aids in evolving a sense of body-self.
