During world war two France was definitely impacted greatly. Between the falls of France, the Jews in France, the Allies coming to Normandy on D day, the establishment of the Vichy government and it’s communication with the Nazi party, the war between the Vichy government and the French resistance, and the French resistance. France was changed greatly. During the years 1940 to the year 1944 France fell into hard times. It was a time of pain and sorrow, during those years many of France’s Jewish population was taken out of the country and sent the concentration camp Auschwitz and various camps throughout Europe. The French resistance did help the allied forces against the Germans. They helped the allies prepare for the attack on the German. They gave the allies very detailed information on where the Germans would be. The Americans showed up on what would become Omaha and Utah beach and several other beaches on the coast of Normandy. Over 160,000 men came to those beaches to aide their allies to fight against the Nazi’s. There were many American causalities on that day on those five beaches, many of the allied forces were captured and tortured by the Nazi’s one of those men captured was my grandfather who fought on D day and was one of the first to be taken by the German army however he did survive the war and the torture the Germans put him through. Others landed in the wrong places and were taken out by the enemy. Throughout D day the German forces saw a decrease in their number of forces. On the end of June 6th 1944 over thousands of troops came on the beaches of Normandy France with success. Once the attack had begun many of the French forces stayed quiet throughout the weeks the attacks took place so that they could focus on guaranteeing their success of victory. Slowly France was being
