An individual’s behaviour can be affected by many factors. Once influenced, the point of view of an individual changes due to the new ideal embedded in the individuals head. Once this ideal is embedded, it begins to overtake the mind; these ideals can come from people around, such as external factors. They can contribute on the emotions and choices of an individual; affecting the moral decisions made by an individual. In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, Macbeth is shown to be easily influenced by those around him. Lady Macbeth is shown to be able to influence Macbeth, by targeting his weakest spot. Banquo begins to manifest Macbeths mind with guilt and fear. Lastly, the Witches influence Macbeth by increasing his desires to be king. The three influences, …show more content…

The manifestation created in the individual's mind begins to affect the individuals behaviour, as the power from the manifestation begins to consume one's mind—affecting the relationship between those. The friendship between Banquo and Macbeth begins off as the two being best friends. As Banquo is present during Macbeth's encounter with the Witches, it is shown that Banquo is polar from Macbeth. This is shown as Banquo is aware and cautious of evil thoughts that may occur and he veers himself away from the Witches, while Macbeth on the other hand Macbeth's ambitious nature pulls him towards the Witches. Banquo (although he has fought alongside Macbeth and knows he is a loyal warrior) is aware of Macbeth’s ambitious nature and notices that Macbeth may let the prophecy consume his thoughts, and react irrationally as a result. Banquo is mindful of the destruction that Macbeth’s ambition may cause and attempts to prevent it by stating that the “deepest consequences” may unfold, should Macbeth follow the prophecies of the witches. As the relationship between the two develops, it is shown that at first Banquo does not have a huge impact on Macbeth; but once Macbeth murders Banquo to ensure the crown, it is shown that Banquo eventually is able to influence Macbeth through the guilt and conscience. When told the desires, the ambition towards the ideal grows; once the ambition advances to a certain point, it begins to consume the individual’s mind, making them create rash decisions to achieve and fulfill their goals. When Macbeth encounters the Witches, they reveal to him the prophecy they have for his future. The prophecy given to Macbeth relates to the idea of deception, as the prophecies told to him by the Witches may have appeared to be welcoming news on the surface, yet the true intentions of the Witches were to torture Macbeth, as they understood his nature and knew how he would respond to the news of his crowning. Due to the ambition Macbeth already had before, hearing the prophecies made him more ambitious. With his ambitions so high to fulfill the prophecies given, it causes Macbeth to pursue immoral actions to achieve what was told. This suggests, that Macbeth’s choices and decisions were altered due to the prophecies heard; the prophecies given to Macbeth, made him realise his dream to be king one day were going to come true, but he believed to make that happen he had to commit immoral actions.
