It is designed to identify and to confront any form of discrimination, harassment, or other inappropriate behavior when it is observed or brought to the attention of an Equal Opportunity Advisor. When inappropriate behavior occurs due to differing views, different personalities, lack of understanding, miscommunication, or stereotypes, the IRS is one of the most effective methods to resolve the conflict. The IRS may be used if the complainant agrees to it. This is the complainant’s decision, not the commander’s. When using the IRS, no formal action is required by the command seeing they are not briefed on the specifics of the incident unless additional action is warranted.
