Issues in Texas Education Education is a very important topic to me and many other people in this state. The technology in this world has become a great tool for the education system but with technology comes a price. And our government doesn’t seem to realize schools need more money to be able to teach their kids more effectively and keep them involved and entertained in the subjects they are learning. From 2007 to 2016 the overall expenditures of the education system have increased by 18.3 Billion dollars. That is a major increase in funding that the Texas government isn’t noticing that we need more money to fund our local school.

Although, many options exist and no matter where you stand on the issue on how to educate our youth or children, all the funding should exist even more so in our public schools especially in the early years pre-k and kindergarten or elementary school students. This is so important because even if people are all for charter schools, private schools or home schools; those special students will eventually have to work and live next to majority of the students who went through public schools and it is very important that the public school kids get the absolute best guidance through their early years. If we do not give them everything we got we will end up with many problems. The problems we will have are not just people who have low reading and math skills but also potentially people who have low self-esteem and have many different mental problems. Public school funding goes beyond simply reading, writing, and math.
As the school year comes to a close and the only thing on a senior’s mind is how are they going to pay for college? Throughout our high school careers we always get asked what our plans are after high school and never how are you going to pay for that next step of your life after high school. We barely get prepared for the real world in high school we are forced to take classes the school thinks will be good for us not what we think or what will be best for what we want to study for in college. How are high schoolers supposed to be able to pay for college when they don’t get prepared enough in high school to go on to that next level of schooling and have to more than likely go into debt just to be able to pay for it.
