Over many years, women have been gradually given more rights such as owning property and voting, but one thing that has remained the same is that the females are not getting paid as much as men. It is important to close this pay gap because women are getting about 80% of what men are getting paid for the same work. Studies are also showing that women are charged more or have to spend more money than men. Equal pay is becoming more important as the minorities increase in the nation because the economy will suffer if a huge percentage of its workforce is getting paid 50-60 cents on the dollar. As more women are taking up the work force, it is important to pay them as much as the working men. It has been a great controversy that women are getting paid about 80% of what men get paid for. Although there are some women that settle for lesser paying jobs, the females that are doing the some work as their male counterparts are getting less money than them. As the minority population increases, the economy will not be able to sustain itself. This is because the gender pay gap is even worse for African and Hispanic women than it is for white women. Although it is true that some minorities are not from America, they make up a lot of the workforce, and their demographic power will grow. If African American mothers are making 64 cents on every white paternal dollar, it will be hard for them to provide for their children which are the future of America. When one weighs all of the evidence, one can conclude that women not only have a right to equal pay, but they deserve it.
