Informative Essay: The Berlin Games

What topic did I pick, and why did I choose to research it? While contemplating a topic to choose, I knew I wanted to research something about World War 2, but I knew World War 2 was a vast topic. So, I incorporated something I liked into my thought process, sports. From there it was pretty easy to find something that not only interests me but also is something that is fairly engaging to research. The 1936 Olympics hosted in Berlin, Germany was perfect.

What did I already know about my topic? Prior to researching about the “Berlin Games” I knew quite a few things about World War 2 but, on the other hand, not so much about what happened before that. I had just finished a project for another class about Jesse Owens which gave me an idea about the racial inequalities in that time but I didn't know how severe it was. Other than what Jesse Owens accomplished in the Olympics I was flat out clueless to what had occurred in that time.

What did I want to learn about my topic? The main thing I wanted to learn about the “Berlin Games” is what exactly was happening around the world. I knew World War 1 just recently ended so there would have to be some disputes between countries but I don’t know if that would effect anything.
