Jesse Owens's accomplishments in the 1936 Olympic games will be remembered as one of the greatest performances at the Olympic games. In 1936, the world was chaotic. America was still an up and coming country while in Germany Adolf Hitler was taking over as dictator. Three years later and the United States was at war with Germany. In the 1936 Olympic games, Jesse Owens set three world records and tied another, but these accomplishments did not come close to what he did in terms of racial barriers.
