President Truman in order to preserve and hold up the to right of freedom, had to make the decision to drop the nuclear bombs on Japan. They say that it also brought quicker liberation to people being held by Japan in concentration camps, including hundreds of thousands of Westerners. They were taken back to camps in Japan where they were kept in very tight quarters, starved, and beaten regularly. If President Truman had not decided to go out with the plan of nuclear bombing the Japanese, prisoners of war would’ve had to stay at the camps for much longer as to invade Japan would have taken months with longs amounts of preparations before the battles even start. Thus risking lives of many prisoners of war as lives of many were lost each day in the camps. However, some people believe there was a better way things could’ve been handled. Some against the use of the atomic bombs may argue that the Japanese were already very weakened and soon to surrender. "They were already defeated in every sense.
