The article is about how there is an alarming amount of unarmed people of color getting killed by the police in America and their murderers getting away with them when the victims were just that. Victims. This has been going on for a long time now, but since Michael Brown was killed by a police officer in Ferguson on August 9, 2014, there has been more news coverage of things like this happen, though many people argue that every one of those deaths were justifiable.

This will impact a lot of people. Almost everyday I would check the news and find out that another unarmed black person is dead. There are tons of people of color living in America and any one of them could end up like a hashtag like #EricGarner or #JusticeForMichaelBrown. Also, there is a lot of debate on this issue. Some people think that all of the deaths were justifiable and the police officers were doing their job. Michael Brown was just the person who got the most coverage. You can say that this history of people (usually the police) getting away with killing people of color, started in 1999 with Amadou Diallo who was killed by the police. The most recent killing is the death of Sandra Bland. She was found dead in her jail cell and the police are saying she committed suicide, even though tweets of Sandra Bland thoughts before she got into jail shows that she would not do something like that.
