Fahrenheit 451 Informative Report In the story of Fahrenheit 451, there are multiple themes that are present throughout it. Some of those recurring themes are censorship and loss of human connection. These recurring themes always have some sort of connection to our characters. They either affect their ways of thinking or their overall actions in the book. The contributions these themes had made a major contribution which will lead us to our conflict between characters. Meanwhile, these conflicts will lead us to the dramatic end of the book. Starting off, censorship played a major/key role in the story of Fahrenheit 451 by the fact that all books had to be burned to keep ideal information about the past hidden from civilians. This affected people such as Mildred in the story by cutting them off from the world around them and making their own little world. Using the technology surrounding them, such as the parlor walls that Mildred called “family” and the seashells that were used to soothe the person but block out almost all sound. This is why Mildred didn’t hear the jets roaring above her house and as a result died due to the explosions given off by the falling bombs. Mildred a prime example of loss of human connection as she spent her last moments watching her “family” as she is met with the bomb and as Ray Bradbury wrote, “taking millions of pounds of brick with her.” Millie is another example as she is willing to commit suicide in the society. Suicide in this society is connected as no person shows much concern for anyone who commits suicide as they have machines to filter blood and pump their stomachs to “bring them back from the dead” or resuscitate them from death. Therefore, giving further proof of lack of human connection as they showed a lack of concern as well. Though, some people showed signs of concerns. Concluding my argument, the themes of lack of human connection and censorship were the main themes of the book. Though, some could argue that it also included the dual nature of humankind. Through the story the most commonly talked about subjects were censorship with books and information. Then is how the lack of human connection recurred with the people in the book and how very little conversation was made of concern was given to certain characters. Those were the only two themes or elements that I saw continuously throughout the story during times of stress or
